Confused about when Social Care should be in your EHCP?
Worried professionals are using Social Care referrals against you?
Not sure what support you're entitled to?
We've got you.
This May join Heidi Mavir, EOTAS expert and founder of EOTAS Matters, for a practical, no-nonsense session designed specifically for parents navigating the social care system for their neurodivergent children and young people. No jargon. No confusion. Just clear, actionable guidance to help you move forward with confidence.
I learnt so much and the most valuable thing I gained was confidence and a bit more fight in me! It is also easier to learn from a live event (or replay) listening to people talk, than reading information online or in books.
Heidi will cover:
✅ Social Care Assessments Explained – Understanding different types of assessments, including when and how they are triggered
✅ Making A Request for a Voluntary Needs Assessment – How to ask for an assessment
✅ How To Prepare for Needs Assessments – What to expect and how to get yourself and your child ready for an Assessment
✅ Requesting A Care Assessment – What you’re entitled to when you are caring for a disabled child or young person
✅ Respite and Short Breaks – Understanding what you may be offered
✅ What To Do If Assessments Aren’t Granted – When and How to Complain
✅ Advocacy Skills – How to confidently communicate with Social Workers
Why Come Along?
You don’t have to face this alone
Who is this for?
Parents of Children and Young People aged under 18, who have or who are trying to secure EHCPs
Anyone unsure about Social Care Assessments
Parents dealing with Local Authority resistance
Anyone who has been told "that's social care" when trying to secure provision
Parents and Carers of Young People who have barriers to independence (ie accessing the community, school or public transport)
Heidi Mavir (SHE/THEY) is an AuDHD public speaker, advocate, Sunday Times Best Selling author and parent to an autistic/adhd teenager. She is also a chronic oversharer and a bit of a bad ass.
A trained Mental Health First Aider and CPD Accredited Trauma-Informed Professional, Heidi uses her knowledge, learning and experience to help other parents and carers to become powerful advocates for their neurodivergent kids. She has built an online community of over 10,000 families, supported by parent professionals and SEN advocates who want to improve opportunities for neurodivergent learners.
Heidi has spoken on stages across the UK, and has been featured in The Sunday Times, The Guardian and on BBC National News.
Heidi loves giraffes and will delight you with "giraf-facts" given the opportunity. Her small pleasures are listening to Dolly Parton's music, Yorkshire Tea and her leopard print sofa, which cost more than her car. She wishes all dresses had pockets.
It was really informative in a really easy to understand format which Heidi is amazing at delivering. I've been on this journey for many years and it has finally helped me to see things much clearer. It was also very manageable because of the length and not too overwhelming.
